WHAT IS VOB?

Description
The VOB file type is a container created by DVD Forum to store video, audio, subtitles, and other data on DVDs. DVD players and drives recognize VOB files and not only play videos with sound but also show menus to help users navigate the disc’s contents. Technical Details
In the VOB format, the video stream is encoded with the MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 codecs. Soundtracks can be compressed with the MPEG-1 Audio Layer II, MPEG-2 Audio Layer I, Linear PCM, DTS, and AC-3 codecs. The .vob files can be encrypted for copy protection.
